Border agents raid alleged stash house, seize $2.6M in marijuana

EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol Agents raided an alleged human stash house and seized more than $2.6 million in marijuana over the weekend, according to a press release. 

The marijuana came from several operations, but the largest seizure occurred near near Salineño, Texas.

According to the release, border agents were tipped off to several people carrying large bundles of what was suspected to be illegal narcotics.  

Agents arrived at the location and the suspects dropped the bundles and headed for Mexico.   

An Office of Air and Marine helicopter searched the area and agents were able to locate two subjects and 51 bundles of marijuana.

In all, a total of 3,000 pounds of marijuana was seized over the weekend.  

In a separate operation, border agents raided an alleged stash house near Roma, Texas, after agents saw a vehicle load undocumented immigrants into a pickup truck and arrive at a home.

A total of 51 people were apprehended at the home and will be processed back to their country of origin, the release stated. 

The alleged smuggler was turned over for prosecution. Agents also arrested a child sex abuse suspect an a member of the 18th street gang over the weekend.
