SAN ANTONIO – This week is National Small Business Week and on Wednesday, members of the Small Business Administration and members from President Barack Obama's cabinet visited San Antonio.
They're traveling across the country to honor small businesses.
SBA Administrator Maria Contreras Sweet said one of the things that makes San Antonio unique for small business owners is the way its citizens embrace immigration -- something she said is important to the growth of small businesses.
"Forty percent of the Fortune 500 were started by immigrants (or) are children of immigrants," she said. "There's just a lot of good stuff happening with immigrants today."
Sweet and the other SBA members will be in New York City Thursday to discuss counselling services available, then they'll wrap up the week in Washington D.C., talking about contracting opportunities.
