SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Housing Authority, in partnership with San Antonio Fighting Back and the Bexar County Corrections Department, announced Wednesday San Antonio will the first city in Texas for the state's comprehensive community re-entry program.
The program is called Resurgence Collaborative and will feature 13 local nonprofit agencies that will work together to provide social services for inmates recently placed on probation
"It's important that the nonprofits get the credit for this day. They're the ones who are going to be doing the hard work," said David Nisivoccia, SAHA interim president and CEO. "They're the ones who are going to be reaching out to our community members that so need and desire these services that will improve their lives."
The program is being funded by a $600,000 grant from the Department of Justice's Byrne Criminal Justice Initiative.
