West Side cashier shoots beer thief

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in the hospital after he was shot during an attempted beer run on the city's West Side Wednesday.

Police said it happened just after 4 p.m. at the Kitty's Mini Mart on North Zarzamora and West Travis streets.

The man reportedly walked in, grabbed the beer and then cursed out the cashier on his way out.

According to investigators, the cashier pulled his gun and fired several shots hitting the suspect twice.

The man was able to make a run for it but was found at a nearby house.

He was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

There is no word on whether charges will be filed on the cashier.
