Man struck by car after beer run on West Side

Beer thief got up after accident, fled scene

SAN ANTONIO – A suspected beer thief was struck by a car on the West Side late Tuesday night, San Antonio police said.

The accident happened just before 10 p.m. on West Commerce Street near N. San Joaquin Avenue.

Police said a woman walked into a gas station, grabbed an 18-pack of beer and ran out of the store.

She then gave the beer to a man waiting outside. The pair ran off and the man was struck by a car in the middle of the road.

However, police said that did not stop the pair. They got up and continued to run and were not located, San Antonio police said.

The driver stopped to render aid and was not expected to face charges.
