Border Patrol seizes $1M worth of marijuana

LOS ARRIEROS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector seized more than $1 million worth of marijuana Wednesday.

The seizure occurred when agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station were performing line watch duties in Los Arrieros and saw several people carrying bundles of marijuana across the Rio Grande River.

As the agents approached the area, the smugglers had made landfall on the U.S. side.

The agents identified themselves, at which time the smugglers abandoned more than 1,300 pounds of marijuana and fled back to Mexico.
