City of San Antonio Memorial Day schedule of services


SAN ANTONIO – City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2015 to observe the Memorial Day holiday.

Public safety and emergency services will remain in operation. Other City services will operate as follows:


  • Recycling, organics recycling and garbage will be collected.
  • Downtown visitors will enjoy an on-street pay station and parking meter holiday.
  • Bitters Brush Recycling Center, 1800 Bitters Rd., and Nelson Gardens Brush Recycling Center, 8963 Nelson Rd., will be open.  
  • Dead animal collection crews will be on duty. 
  • Animal care officers will be on duty. 
  • Police will be on duty. 
  • Fire and EMS personnel will be on duty. 
  • The 3-1-1 Call Center will be operational from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 
  • The Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitor Information Center will be open. 
  • The Parks and Recreation Department's four regional pools will be open from 1-7 p.m. Saturday, May 23-Monday, May 25: Heritage, 1423 Ellison Dr.; Lady Bird Johnson, 10700 Nacogdoches; South Side Lions, 3100 Hiawatha; and Woodlawn, 221 Alexander Ave. 
  • The San Antonio Botanical Garden, 555 Funston Place, will observe normal operating hours. 
  • La Villita and Market Square shops will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.


  • The Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center will be closed. 
  • Central Library and all branch libraries will be closed. 
  • All Metro Health locations and clinics will be closed. 
  • Municipal Court, 401 S. Frio, will be closed. 
  • Dr. Manuel P. Berriozabal cafécollege will be closed. 
  • Head Start will be closed. 
  • Pre-K 4 SA offices and its centers will be closed. 
  • Senior Multi-Service Centers will be closed.  
  • Senior Nutrition Sites will be closed. (Seniors or the general public may contact individual nutrition sites for holiday schedule information.) 
  • City of San Antonio Community Service Centers and City of San Antonio Learning Centers will be closed. 
  • All bulky waste collection centers and the household hazardous waste site will be closed. 
  • Parks & Recreation Community Centers will be closed. 
  • Parks & Recreation Adult and Senior Centers will be closed. 
  • Ron Darner Parks and Recreation Headquarters, 5800 Old Hwy. 90 W, will be closed.  
  • Enrique Barrera Community Fitness Center, 5800 Old Hwy. 90 W, will be closed.  
  • San Antonio Natatorium, 1430 W. Cesar Chavez, will be closed.  
  • Jesse James Leija/San Fernando Gym at 319 W. Travis will be closed.  
  • McFarlin Tennis Center, 1503 San Pedro will be closed.  
  • Spanish Governor's Palace (regularly closed on Mondays) will be closed. 
  • La Villita Administrative Offices will be closed. 
  • Market Square Administrative Offices will be closed.
