Man charged with murder in NW side double shooting

Alejandro Rincon, 19, accused of shooting 2 men, killing 1

SAN ANTONIO – A murder charge has been filed against Alejandro Rincon, 19, the suspect in a double shooting at a Northwest Side motel which ended with the death of one of the victims.

He also faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon related to the man who survived.

San Antonio police said Rincon showed up at a room at the Express Inn around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday after arguing with a woman who was visiting some people there.

Rincon was upset about the woman being at the motel, near Interstate 10 and Vance Jackson, police said.

"The suspect then got a gun, went back to that hotel room, knocked on the door," said Sgt. Javier Salazar, a spokesman for SAPD. "My understanding is there was very little said, if anything. As soon as the door was open, he started shooting. "

The 20-year-old man who answered the door was shot in the upper body and died at the scene. As of 11:30 a.m., his name had not been released.

David Perez, 21, was wounded in both legs, and taken to a hospital for treatment, according to a police report.

When officers arrived at the motel, Rincon already was gone.

"Officers set up a quadrant in the neighborhood and found him hiding on a roof in the 300 block of Dewhurst and placed him under arrest without incident," Salazar said. "They also recovered the weapon there with him."

Salazar said detectives also plan to review surveillance video from the motel to see what the cameras might have captured.
