Blue Bell responds to pictures of delivery trucks on roads

SAN ANTONIO – Blue Bell officials went on social media Monday to answer questions from customers about delivery trucks recently seen on Texas roads.

The Texas-based company issued a statement on its Facebook page that read in part:

"You may have noticed a few photos or videos of our trucks on the roads recently. Unfortunately they are not out delivering ice cream…yet. These trucks are making their way back to markets that remain open and will be used once we begin distributing ice cream to stores again."

Blue Bell Creameries is working to resume operations at its facilities in Texas and Oklahoma after a series of listeria illnesses linked to its products prompted a total product recall.

The company said it will be several months before its products will be sold again.

The company also announced Monday it will institute "test and hold" procedures at its Alabama plant as part of an agreement with health officials to ensure product safety.
