Fire rips through neighboring homes in NE Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO – A fire ripped through two homes early Tuesday morning in northeast Bexar County.
Firefighters from various Bexar County departments responded to the fire around 4 a.m. in the 7100 block of Glen Point Drive which is located near Gibbs Sprawl Road and Montgomery Drive.
Firefighters arrived to find one of the homes engulfed in flames. A police officer tells KSAT he went around and alerted people inside one of the homes there was a fire.
Fire officials said everyone made it out safe including family pets.
Gardendale Fire Chief Robert Hogan said the fire started in a garage and involved a vehicle, then spread to a house next door before it was extinguished.
Residents complained about an apparent delay in the arrival of firefighters, but Hogan said initial units were here within six minutes.
More firefighters were called to the scene when it spread to the second structure, Hogan said.
Fire officials believe the cause was electrical in nature. Damage estimates have not been released.
