Opposite political parties seeking cash in SA

Hillary Clinton and Dick Cheney hold private fund raising meetings

SAN ANTONIO – Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Dick Cheney made brief stops in San Antonio Wednesday to meet with their respective party supporters to raise money.

Cheney met with donors following a speech for a business convention at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Cheney was seeking money for Rep. Will Hurd, of the 23rd Congressional District, who is seeking reelection in 2016.

"That will be the one marquee congressional race in 2016," said Trinity University political science Professor David Crockett. "To win it, will take money."

"It is the one district in Texas that both parties are going to put all of their money and ammunition into because they want to either keep it or steal it," he said.

Clinton's, visit, too was a private affair as she met with donors at an exclusive downtown club.

"She will probably make the rounds over the course of the next year and a half to several Texas cities in all likelihood, Crockett said, looking for cash and not votes.

"She's not going to win Texas in 2016. But often times people are forgetting that there are very rich democrats in Texas who are very happy to contribute to her campaign and like to be visited."
