Family of four escapes house fire

Water heater blamed for fast-moving fire in 700 block of Rochambeau

SAN ANTONIO – A family of four ran for safety after their house caught fire early Wednesday morning on the city's Southwest Side.

Fire officials said they found flames shooting through the roof around 2 a.m. when they arrived at the home in the 700 block of Rochambeau.

Family members said they woke up to the smell of smoke and hurried to get out.

Fire officials said it appears that the fire, which was quickly extinguished, started near a water heater.

No one was hurt.
