Taylor or Van de Putte?

Voters to decide on SA mayor today

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio voters will head to the polls today to decide if Ivy Taylor will remain in office or if former state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte will be the city's next mayor.

If early voting is any indication, voter turnout on Saturday could be heavy.

Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen said Friday that more than 60,000 people participated in early voting.

"More people voted early than voted in the first election on May 9, which was really promising," Callanen said. "So having said that, we are looking forward tomorrow (Saturday) to having maybe 30,000 to 40,000 people turn out to vote, which would be terrific. That would get us over 100,000 total, which is what we would really like to see."

Callanen is also reminding people that if they did not vote on May 9, they are still eligible to vote in the runoff.

Voters in District 7 will also be deciding if incumbent Cris Medina will remain office. Medina is facing a challenge from Mari-Aguirre Rodriguez.
