HONDO, Texas – Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown said his investigators have a handful of possible suspects in mind in the death of Traci Lynn Lemley, 31.
However, Brown said they are waiting to find out how she was killed before her body was dumped in a Medina County cornfield June 8 and set on fire.
A passerby that day spotted the flames and alerted Sheriff's officials.
Brown said evidence recovered from the scene that day is being processed, including several items that the suspect or suspects may have thought were destroyed after setting Lemley's body on fire.
Lemley was the mother of seven children who did not live with her, but she would check on them whenever possible, according to a family member who did not want to be identified.
The sheriff said Lemley started as a runaway when she was 13, but he was unwilling to say much more.
Brown said he urges anyone with information about the case to contact the Medina County Sheriff's Office.
He said he is confident they will solve the case.
"That's what we do," Brown said.
