Man guilty on murder, robbery charges

Prosecutors: Christoper Padilla, 23, beat Baldemar Perez, 47, to death

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio jury found a man guilty of murder and robbery in connection with a pair of assaults on two different men.

Prosecutors say Christoper Padilla, 23, beat Baldemar Perez, 47, to death outside a West Side home on the night of March 29, 2013.

He also beat up another man in the parking lot of a North Side strip club and took his wallet.

Merced Aquilar testified earlier in June that as he was getting out of his vehicle in the parking lot of Tiffany's Cabaret he was jumped by three men.

"They just all started kicking me and attacking me and punching me," he testified. "As I was rolling on the ground that's when they grabbed my wallet from my back pocket."

The punishment phase of the trial begins Tuesday morning. If he is convicted, Padilla faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
