Robbery suspect arrested after targeting person he knows

Luis Vera, 54, charged with aggravated robbery

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police say a suspect in two robberies on the South Side has been arrested after targeting someone he knows.

According to an arrest affidavit, 54-year-old Luis Vera is accused of robbing two people along Roosevelt Avenue.

Police said both victims told them he asked for change for a $100 bill, then took their money when they reached into their wallets.

According to the affidavit, one victim was an 81-year-old man who said he was robbed at gunpoint while cutting the grass outside a business earlier this month.

The other victim was robbed at a business on Saturday and told police he knew Vera as one of his regular customers.

That victim gave officers Vera's name and picked him out of a photo lineup, the affidavit stated.

Police arrested Vera on the spot for theft and have now charged him with aggravated robbery.
