Man accused of stealing shoes from victim in robbery

Edward Cano, 19, believed to be 1 of 4 suspects involved

SAN ANTONIO – A 19-year-old suspect identified as Edward Cano is believed to be one of four people involved in a robbery in which the victim's shoes and other items were taken.

An arrest affidavit stated the 20-year-old victim told San Antonio police he posted a message on Facebook announcing that the shoes were for sale.

He said he later set up a meeting with a man, later identified as Cano, who seemed interested in buying them, the affidavit stated.

The victim said he and a friend met up with Cano on May 28 at a public parking lot on the Northwest Side, but he wasn't alone.

The affidavit stated that three other men, including one armed with a shotgun, got out of Cano's car, began beating the victim and his friend and demanding their possessions.

The victim told police they took the shoes as well as his car keys, cellphone and both of their wallets.

Investigators said they researched and found out the cellphone number used to arrange the meeting with the victim was registered to Cano.

Investigators said he also owns a car that matches the description of the one the suspects used to get away.

Cano was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated robbery.
