Storms dump heavy rain in SA area

SAN ANTONIO – Storms on Friday morning dumped heavy rain in some portions of San Antonio.

Around 5 a.m., Doppler Radar indicated a storm dumping heavy rain in the Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 area moving north toward Comal County.

KSAT 12 meteorologist Justin Horne said the storm also dumped heavy rain in the Converse area. Heavy rain was also indicated by radar in Medina and Uvalde counties.

The heavy rain prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for Bexar and Comal counties until 7:30 a.m.

KSAT 12 traffic reporter Detective Robert Dart said there were numerous reports of vehicles losing control on roadways and hitting barricades and utility poles. Robert urged motorists to take their time while driving.

The forecast for Friday called for cloudy skies in the morning turning to partly cloudy in the afternoon with chances of more rain. A high in the low 90s is expected.
