Wanted fugitive found after cutting off ankle monitor

Zachary Whiteside, 35, was awaiting trial on multiple felony charges


SAN ANTONIO – A man wanted for cutting off his ankle monitor to go on the run is now behind bars and facing several charges.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Zachary Whiteside, 35, late Wednesday night.

Whiteside had been wanted since last Thursday, when he was released on bond.

Investigators said he is accused of cutting off his ankle monitor to hide out.

He was found in an apartment in the 1400 block of North East Interstate Loop 410, on the city's northeast side.

He's awaiting trial on eight felony charges, including drug possession, tampering with evidence, evading arrest, assault on a public servant and attempting to disarm a police officer.

Task force officials said he may face new charges now.
