Second woman arrested in Medina, Nueces County slayings

Veronica Sanchez, 45, also charged in deaths of Traci Lynn Lemley, Jeremy Carrico

SAN ANTONIO – A second woman has been arrested in the deaths of Traci Lynn Lemley and Jeremy Carrico, whose bodies were found burned in corn fields in Medina and Nueces counties on June 8 and June 17, respectively.

Veronica Sanchez, 45, has been charged with murder in connection with their deaths, Medina County sheriff's officials said.

John Mendoza Jr., 35, and Kristopher Sanchez, 34, are already being held in the Medina County Jail following their arrests in San Antonio on Tuesday night in connection with the deaths of Lemley and Carrico.

Loribeth Martinez, 23, turned herself in to Medina County Sheriff's Office detectives Saturday.

Investigators previously said they believe the couple was killed inside Martinez's apartment on Austin Highway in San Antonio. Their bodies were then dumped in the counties where they were found.

Officials said it appears the motives for the murders include drugs, gang activity and jealousy. Mendoza and Sanchez are believed to be members of the Mexican Mafia.
