Man rescued from wrecked, smoking car

SAN ANTONIO – A man is recovering in the hospital after he was pulled from his wrecked vehicle on Wednesday night.

Witnesses said he was speeding on Roosevelt Avenue before he slammed into a parked truck outside a bar.

The driver told authorities the driver tried hitting on the brake, but it didn't work.

Police said, the car started to smoke and he was trapped until emergency crews arrived and used the Jaws of Life to get him out.

"I was in shock. Me and my sister were in shock and we couldn't figure out (anthing)," said witness Caleb Garcia. "So we ran over there and helped him out."

The driver of the wrecked vehicle was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical in unknown condition.
