SAPD requests independent investigation of April crash

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Department of Public Safety has been asked by the San Antonio Police Department to conduct an independent investigation into a traffic accident involving Mayor Ivy Taylor's driver.

An SUV Taylor was riding in collided with another vehicle at the intersection of North Hackberry and East Houston streets April 18.

SAPD's investigation concluded that Taylor's SUV had the green light and was not at fault.

A woman riding in the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and her family has since sued the city, saying the mayor's SUV was at fault.

The DPS State Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting in the department's investigation, which is expected to be concluded soon.
