Border Patrol agents rescue two people, make arrests

2 rescued, 15 apprehended in separate incidents

SAN ANTONIO – Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley rescued several people and made numerous significant arrests, a press release said.

Agents rescued two people on Saturday when agents assigned to the Falfurrias Checkpoint encountered a male U.S. citizen at the primary inspection area pulling a utility trailer, the press release said.

According to the press release, a K-9 alert resulted in the driver being subjected to a secondary inspection, agents said they found four undocumented aliens, with two hiding inside the truck and two locked inside a liquid storage container.

The case was referred to the Rio Grande Valley Sector Prosecutions Office. The vehicle and trailer were seized, the press release said.

According to the press release, Border Patrol agents from McAllen, Rio Grande City, and Kingsville arrested eight men from three countries: four from Mexico, two from El Salvador, and two from Honduras.

All eight of the men had previously been charged with sexual crimes, the press release said. All were referred to the Rio Grande Sector Prosecutions Office.

Agents also apprehended seven undocumented aliens from a stash house in cooperation with the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, the press release said. The caretaker of the house was arrested on a charge of unlawful restraint and possession of a controlled substance.
