SAN ANTONIO – A registered sex offender was sent back to jail after failing to check in with sex crimes detectives.
37-year-old Mark Anthony Tijerina was taken back into custody Monday, police said.
Police said Tijerina was released from prison back in April after serving nearly six years for the sexual assault of a child.
Under the conditions of his release, Tijerina was required to register as a sex offender and verify his residence every 30 days, police said.
Police said Tijerina is now charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registration program.
