Man, 69, tells police he was shot in face at stop light

SAN ANTONIO – A man who San Antonio police found with a gunshot wound to his face told them that he was shot while sitting at a stop light on the Northeast Side. 

Officers responded to a call around 2:30 a.m. from a home in the 500 block of Bee Street near the Government Hill historic neighborhood and found the 69-year-old victim.

Police said the man told them that he drove himself home after being shot at another location.

Officers said he told them he was waiting at a stop light at FM 78 and Springfield Road when an SUV pulled up, someone got out and fired at him.

Officers at the scene said the vehicle involved was a Chevy Suburban but they did not release a description of the shooter.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
