Authorities said the two were in charge of the woman and her husband, who is now deceased.

The victim's son noticed the items were missing.

Flowers is accused of stealing a diamond pendant, a necklace and other items. Police said he then sold the items worth more than $3,500 at a pawn shop.

When he eventually confessed, Flowers told police the girlfriend didn't know he took the items.

Flowers has been charged with theft of an elderly person.
