Swimming pool season extended at city pools

SA public pools will operate through Sunday, Sept. 27

SAN ANTONIO – The City of San Antonio's Parks and Recreation Department's four regional swimming pools will remain open through Sept. 27 for an extended pool season.

During this time, the community is invited to swim at any of the following public pools:

  • Heritage, 1423 Ellison Dr.
  • Lady Bird Johnson, 10700 Nacogdoches Rd.
  • South Side Lions, 3100 Hiawatha St.
  • Woodlawn, 221 Alexander Ave.

"The extended pool season is another way the City of San Antonio and the Parks and Recreation Department continue to create an environment that improves the quality of life for our residents,” said acting Parks and Recreation Department Director Janet Martin. "We hope residents will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy lap swimming and open swimming."

Open Swimming is offered Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m.  Lap swimming is offered Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Pools will also be open from 1 to 7 p.m. for open swimming on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 through Sept. 7. Admission is free.
