Border Patrol makes major pot bust

Agents find nearly a million dollars of pot on roadside

BROWNSVILLE – Border Patrol agents scored a major marijuana bust Thursday just north of the Rio Grande River.

Agents received a report of a man loading bales of pot into a truck near Brownsville.

They responded and saw a white pick-up driving away from the Texas-Mexico border.

Agents pursued and found the truck abandoned and with more than a 1,000 pounds of pot inside.

The Border Patrol says agents found the man a short time later and arrested him.

They say the 1,100 pounds of marijuana has a street value of close to $1 million.

The arrested man and the marijuana are now in the custody of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
