Reward offered for information leading to arrest of sex offender

Jesse Cruz Jr. has ties to San Antonio area, Texas DPS says

SAN ANTONIO – A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a sex offender who has ties to the San Antonio area, which was his last known address, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said.

Texas DPS said it has added Jesse Cruz Jr., 49, to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.

Cruz is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Cruz was convicted in 1993 of indecency with a child by sexual contact after an incident in Bexar County involving a 12-year-old girl, authorities said.

Cruz's criminal history also includes aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to Texas DPS officials.

Authorities described Cruz as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 255 pounds. He has a large tattoo on the right side of his neck, a small tattoo near his right eye and various other tattoos. Texas DPS said he has previous work history with moving companies.

A cash reward up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to Cruz's capture. Texas DPS said all tips are guaranteed to be anonymous. The Crime Stoppers hotline can be reached at 800-252-TIPS (8477).
