SAN ANTONIO, TX – Yarikza Rivera Campos, 21, and Victor Garcia, Jr., 23, are facing charges of injury to a child after a five-year-old boy reportedly suffered a beating with a belt that left him with scars for more than a week.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that San Antonio police found out about the boy’s injuries Sunday after someone called a hotline for Child Protective Services and reported it.

Police believe Garcia beat the boy with a belt earlier in the month after Campos told him the child had been fighting with his brother, the affidavit stated. They said he still had visible scars on his back, buttocks and thighs nine days after the alleged incident, the affidavit stated.

Garcia and Campos were taken into custody and booked into the Bexar County jail Monday morning.
