Southside ISD dealing with mold issue

7 locations being treated for mold

SAN ANTONIO – The Southside Independent School District is treating seven locations within the district for mold and water damage.

The district said Thursday that interim superintendent Dr. Joe E. Gonzales located areas of concern during a tour of the district and contacted an outside consultant to assist in the repairs.

SISD said two employees notified administration at the beginning of the school year to possible mold issues at a building on the main property.

The district said several areas have been treated and cleared for use.

Seven locations in the district are being investigated further for mold and water damage. Five classrooms at the Early College High School, also known as A.C.E.S., are closed off due to damage.

The district said faculty and staff are not in danger.
