6th man arrested in deadly South Side kidnapping

Affidavit: Suspect hired, paid $20K for murder-kidnapping

SAN ANTONIO – Eric Ortega, 35, is the sixth and latest man arrested in connection to the kidnapping and murder of Angel Salazar.

Ortega is being charged with capital murder for his involvement in the case.

According to an arrest affidavit, Ortega hired five men to kidnap and murder Salazar. He promised to pay them $20,000.

The affidavit said the men were paid with drugs but never received any money.

Salazar was abducted from a home in the 400 block of West Drexel on Aug. 18.

He was taken to a vacant home and tortured before being killed.

Investigators believe the murder was gang-related.
