SAN ANTONIO – Wet weather was partially to blame for a five-car chain-reaction accident early Friday morning.
The accident occurred just after 1 a.m. on Highway 281 near Redland Road on the city's North Side.
San Antonio police said a driver lost control on the southbound lanes and ended up in the northbound lanes. That's when he was hit head-on by another car. Two other drivers then tried to avoid the accident but ended up hitting each other.
A fifth driver eventually hit the car that started the chain reaction.
The driver who caused the accident was taken to University Hospital and is listed in serious condition.
