SEGUIN, Texas – A house fire early Friday morning killed a man in Seguin.

Seguin first responders received a 911 call just after 5:30 a.m. When they arrived smoke and flames were showing from the home.

An older couple who lived in the home made it out, and told firefighters a man might still be inside.

Fire crews found the body of a man in his late 30s or early 40s dead inside.

Officials with the city say this is the first fire death in Seguin since 2012.

The fire destroyed a significant portion of the home, and two vehicles parked nearby. Damage is estimated at $70,000 and the cause remains under investigation.
