HAYS COUNTY, Texas – Escaped Hays County inmate Omar Maya-Rangel, 29, and his accomplice, Marinda Seawright, 32, were arrested in Houston early Friday morning.

The Hays County Sheriff's Office made the announcement of the capture on its Facebook page.

The two were pulled over in Harris County around 4 a.m. for a routine traffic stop. The officer recognized Maya-Rangel as the inmate who escaped from custody Wednesday at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center in San Marcos.

Maya-Rangel was in jail on theft and credit card abuse charges. His criminal history includes property and fraud-type offenses, the Sheriff's Office said.

Maya-Rangel is charged with escape. Seawright is charged with permitting or facilitating an escape. Both are charged with failure to identify a fugitive after police said they tried to lie about who they were.

The pair are awaiting extradition to Hays County.
