Man guilty of murder in drunken driving killing of motorcyclist

William Rhomer, 43, has three prior DWI arrests


SAN ANTONIO – William Rhomer, 43, was found guilty of murder Friday in the May 2, 2012, drunken driving death of motorcyclist Gilbert Chavez, 40.

Because Rhomer had a previous drunken driving conviction, prosecutors upgraded the charges to murder.

He was also convicted on charges of intoxication manslaughter and manslaughter.

The punishment phase of the trial begins on Monday. Rhomer faces a maximum of life in prison.
