Man accused of stealing, pawning girlfriend's jewelry

Alberto Gonzalez, 38, charged with theft

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Alberto Gonzalez, 38, has been arrested in connection with the theft of about $3,000 worth of jewelry that belongs to his now ex-girlfriend.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the 36-year-old woman told police she suspected something was going on with Gonzalez due to his strange behavior lately. She said her ex had a past problem with drug abuse and would hide drugs in his shoes, the affidavit stated.

It stated that when the woman searched his shoes, she found a pile of receipts showing someone had pawned several pieces of women’s jewelry.

The woman then searched her jewelry box and realized she was missing some items, the affidavit stated.

Police said the woman told them she went to the pawn shot and bought back several pieces of her stolen jewelry but ran out of money. Investigators recovered some of the other property, the affidavit stated.

Gonzalez has been charged with theft.
