Woman arrested in organized retail theft ring

Noemi Lopez-Padilla, 41, allegedly bought stolen items for resale

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police arrested Noemi Lopez-Padilla, 41, on Thursday for her alleged role in a large-scale, sophisticated theft scheme.

Lopez-Padilla is accused of buying stolen property from people who stole the items, such as clothing, makeup and cologne.

"The detectives suspect that she was purchasing the stolen items for pennies on the dollar and then taking them and reselling them and making a profit," SAPD Sgt. Jesse Salame said.

She was arrested at a restaurant on West Commerce Street, where officers recovered $50,000 worth of stolen property and $10,000 cash.

Lopez-Padilla was charged with organized retail theft, which is a felony.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
