Pascual Gonzalez, a spokesman for the Northside Independent School District, said the girls were walking toward Loop 1604 when they were hit around 4:30 p.m.

Both girls were injured and taken to University Hospital. One of the girls is in serious condition, according to Gonzalez.

The driver of the black Hummer that hit the girls did stop and remain at the scene.
