Tomas Oviedo, Jr., arrested after picture was posted on Facebook

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Tomas Oviedo, Jr., has been arrested in connection with a hit and run crash on the West Side one day after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office made a plea on Facebook for information on his whereabouts.

Oviedo, 24, was booked into the Bexar County jail Thursday on a charge of failing to stop and render aid.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that San Antonio police had named him as the suspected driver of an SUV that plowed into a home in the 300 block of S. San Felipe Nov. 14. The vehicle also hit a man who was standing next to the porch of the home.

The affidavit stated that the victim was able to identify Oviedo as the driver who ran from the scene because he knows him from the neighborhood. He said just before Oviedo ran off, he apologized for hitting him.

According to the affidavit, Oviedo was running from a sheriff’s deputy when he lost control of the SUV and  crashed.

The sheriff’s office posted the appeal for information on his whereabouts on Facebook Wednesday.
