Volunteers wrap gifts for thousands of less fortunate children

Gifts come from annual toy drive by SAFD

SAN ANTONIO – More than 3,000 children will have a gift under the Christmas tree this year thanks to the San Antonio Firefighters annual toy drive, in conjunction with the several community organizations.

Volunteers spent hours wrapping gifts Saturday.

For the past several weekends, SAFD firefighters collected toys at area grocery stores.

Chief Charles Hood said the annual drive is one of highlights of working with the community, “For us to be Santa for them to provide some toys for them. It's no better feeling in the world for us. So we're happy to do it.”

This is the seventh year for the drive. The toys will be delivered on fire trucks in the days leading up to Christmas.
