Man arrested for injuring 5-month-old

James Short III, 20, has been charged with injury to a child

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man, James Short III, has been arrested for injuring a 5-month old child San Antonio police said Wednesday.

The injured child was taken to Santa Rosa Children's Hospital with a fracture in his left arm. Short told police he picked the child up and that's when he heard a pop.

The baby was evaluated by medical staff who then determined he also had several bite marks in various stages of healing.

In interviews with police Short said he was frustrated with the child because he would not stop crying. Short said he did not mean to hurt the child.

Police alleged Short grabbed the child's arm and twisted it.

Child Protective Services has been notified of the incident.

Short was taken into custody Tuesday.
