Police arrest man suspected of setting fire to Houston mosque on Christmas Day

HOUSTON – Investigators have arrested a man suspected of burning a Houston mosque on Christmas Day, KSAT 12's sister station KPRC in Houston, reports.

Gary Nathaniel Moore was booked into jail early Wednesday morning following a joint investigation by members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Houston Fire Department’s Arson Bureau.

The two-alarm fire broke out Christmas Day afternoon, shortly after Friday prayers were held at the mosque which is located in a strip mall at 11246 South Wilcrest near West Bellfort.

Moore’s bond has been set at $10,000, according to Harris County District Court records.

Investigators plan to hold a news conference later Wednesday.
