GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas – The owner of a fireworks stand in Guadalupe County is scrambling after $10,000 to $15,000 worth of fireworks was stolen from a storage trailer.
On Wednesday, Reagan Schwab, owner of Schwab Fireworks, located off Interstate 10 and Schwab Road, said he and his family are having to restock shelves after their storage trailer was broken into late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
"As I came in here and started looking, I realized that they took all of our big stuff," Schwab said. "We got a lot of big-ticket items and big things and they just wiped us out of all the big stuff. They got a lot of little stuff, too, but the big stuff is what really hurts."
Schwab is hoping he will have enough inventory for the surge of customers he's expecting Thursday.
"We pull people from all over town, the South Side, the North Side, Boerne, New Braunfels, all over the place," Schwab said. "People who have big fireworks parties, they come."
Vicky Carrasco and her family visited the fireworks stand on Wednesday to buy more fireworks and were shocked to see the stand noticeably empty.
"I think it's terrible," Carrasco said. "We came last night. We decided what we were going to buy and we said, 'OK. We'll be back, We'll see you tomorrow.'" And we got here today, and half of their inventory is gone."
Schwab is offering a $1,000 reward for information that can help investigators track down the people who stole the fireworks.
"We're hoping that somebody saw or noticed someone coming or going in the middle of the night," Schwab said. "As much stuff as they took, they had to make dozens and dozens of trips."
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office at 830-379-1224 or Schwab at 210-415-7222.
