Sheriff's Office says victim working on car when shooter opened fire

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating its first homicide of 2016.

Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call for a drive-by shooting just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 8400 block of Northmont in East Bexar County.

When deputies responded, they found a man shot outside.

The victim had been outside working on his car and was shot by someone in a passing vehicle.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the San Antonio Military Medical Center via ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
