Arrest made in Frosty Frog shaved ice trailer thefts

Rene Gonzales, 28, arrested after search warrant executed

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police arrested Rene Gonzales, 28, on Wednesday in connection with the theft of two trailers belonging to the Frosty Frog Shaved Ice Co.

The arrest was made after police executed a search warrant at two homes near eachother on the city's West Side. One location is in the 600 block of Sanderlig, the other was the 300 block of Remolino.

Two trailers belonging to Angelique Gonzales were taken from the Bandera Pointe Shopping Center Saturday and were recovered on Tuesday with no items inside. San Antonio police said they received a break in the case, leading to the location of some of the stolen items.

“We received a tip that there may be some stolen property from the Frosty Frog trailer thefts,” Sgt. Carlos Gonzalez said. “We came to this location, executed a search warrant and were able to recover some property from that."

Police said they are unsure if the two locations searched on Wednesday are connected and also recovered other stolen items not involved in the trailer thefts.

“I got two freezers, some cork bottles, a barrel that we needed, and that's about it right now,” Angelique Gonzales said. “We lost so much and so much time already, and we just want to regain that and be back in business.”

She said even though not all of the stolen property was recovered, she hopes to be back in business on Feb. 1 at the Bandera Pointe Shopping Center.
