SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio River Walk is expected to be refilled ahead of schedule, officials said.
Transportation & Capital Improvements and the Center City Development Office began draining the San Antonio River Walk on Sunday.

Officials said the draining included the main channel and river loop from Josephine Street to Alamo Street.
The river was anticipated to be refilled by Saturday morning, but officials said the river will now be refilled by Friday afternoon.
The San Antonio River Authority performed maintenance on the Brooklyn Street lock and dam facilities during the draining of the river, officials said.
"The crest gate at the lock and dam was repaired as needed," Kristen Hansen, SARA's Watershed Parks and Operations Manager, said. "We are happy that the river will be filled in time for the Army All-American Bowl visitors this weekend to enjoy."
Officials said during the draining, the city also took the opportunity to assess the condition of the river loop, and was able to conduct minor trash and debris removal.
