Man linked to robberies during holiday shopping season

Frank Gonzales, 19, accused of robbing shoppers at gunpoint

SAN ANTONIO – Frank Gonzales, 19, is facing criminal charges tied to the armed robberies of at least two women during the holiday shopping season.

The victims told San Antonio police that they were approached by a man with a gun who demanded their purses Dec. 2 in a parking lot at South Park Mall.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, one of the victims handed over cash. The other one did not comply and instead began honking the horn of her car, which caused the robber to run away.

The affidavit stated that detectives already were investigating several similar robberies that had happened around that time.

Once they determined that Gonzales was a possible suspect in this case, detectives showed the two women a photo lineup. The affidavit stated that both identified him as the man who had robbed them.

Two charges of aggravated robbery were filed against Gonzales on Tuesday.
