Group confronts, shoots man on East Side street

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot early Friday morning while he was walking along a street on the city's East Side.

San Antonio police said the man told officers that he was walking along North New Braunfels Avenue near Hays Street around 2 a.m. Friday, when a group of four to five men confronted him.

The man said the group asked him where he was going and one of them pulled out a gun and fired several shots.

One of the gunshots hit the man in the calf. Police said he was in stable condition when he was taken to University Hospital.

Police are looking for the shooters, who left in a red car.
