Man shot to death in front yard on East Side

Shooting reported in 900 block of Poinsettia Street

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for a gunman after a man was shot to death in his front yard Friday afternoon.

Police said the victim was shot around 12:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Poinsettia Street on the city's East Side.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the gunman walked up to the victim, shot him and fled on foot. “We found a body. Man’s body right on the side of the house,” he said.

The victim, in his late 20s or early 30s, died at the scene.

Police found shell casings at the scene and are looking for a Hispanic male as the suspected shooter.

Investigators said they do not believe the shooting was gang-related.

Due to an increase in shootings extra police have been in the area.

"We have had our street crimes unit and a number of other units out here for several days now,” McManus said.
